Serie A giants AS Roma are reportedly in talks to sign 29-year-old Liverpool full-back Kostas Tsimikas on a temporary basis.
AS Roma are looking to sign a new left-back before the end of the transfer window, and according to Gianluca Di Marzio, the Serie A giants have their eyes set on Liverpool’s Kostas Tsimikas. They have knocked on the doors of the Merseyside club with hopes of signing him on loan.
Tsimikas joined the Reds back in 2020 after making a name for himself while playing for Olympiacos. He has been an important part of their squad since the start. Over the years, he has featured in a total of 115 matches and has bagged 18 assists.
Despite not being a regular starter, he has proven to be an ideal cover for Andrew Robertson. However, things are all set to change this season following the arrival of Milos Kerkez from Bournemouth. With Kerkez and Robertson ahead of him in the pecking order, the 29-year-old is unlikely to have much game time.
As a result, there are multiple top clubs who are interested in signing the Greek international, who still has two years left on his deal at the Merseyside club. AS Roma have emerged as a potential destination for Kostas Tsimikas.
Gian Piero Gasperini is keen on adding more quality to his ranks before the end of the transfer window. While they have recently acquired the services of Leon Bailey, the manager has suggested they could still make a lot of moves in the coming days.
AS Roma to push for Tsimikas’s signature
Signing a new left-back is one of their priorities as they seek an ideal deputy for Angelino. Kostas Tsimikas is one of the new names on their transfer list. They feel he could prove to be a valuable addition to their squad, given the amount of experience he has.
AS Roma have reached out to the Merseyside club to discuss a potential loan transfer. While the operation isn’t easy, the Italian club are trying to strike a deal with Liverpool. The beginning of next week could give us a fair idea of whether a move could be feasible. Since Tsimikas looks surplus to requirements, the Reds might be open to his departure, but they might prefer a permanent move.
