Newcastle United take on Liverpool at St James’ Park - and Alexander Isak is still centre of attention.
While few have issue with his want to leave for sporting ambition - let’s face it, Liverpool are the Premier League champions - fans are near universal in their condemnation of his behaviour in trying to force his way out of NUFC.
At present, Isak is going nowhere, even if the last week of the transfer window is almost certain to see that water tested once again.
And while Isak is the narrative of the summer for United - and very relevant when it comes to this game - he won’t be playing in the encounter - for either side.

However, that has not stopped Sky Sports making him centre of attention.
In their promotion for Super Sunday and Monday Night Football, where NUFC host Liverpool at 8pm, they used the video of Isak banging in a cracker from distance at St James’ park, then showed the striker in a less than favourable, quite cheeky light - and it did not go down well with fans on social media. Below is said video.
In the video they depict Isak, in a Newcastle United shirt, in a red light, with half his face in the colour of Liverpool. It hasn’t been well received, particularly among a fanbase that already feels the media are against them.
Here’s what fans said about it:
@EverMore_NUFC - I just hope the lads can spoil the party.
@MMcAlle - I’m just pleased I don’t have to watch the coverage on Monday. I’ll be ten pints deep in L7 .
@J_Langston_NUFC - For every time Isak is mentioned on MNF, you have to take a shot.
@JohnK1892 - We will carry on. As we have since 1892. Jog on.
@geordie_john - But sky aren’t biased haha.
@JayToonArmy1 - Ridiculous, unfortunately not surprising though.
@DanielleNUFC - Disgraceful that mind.
Alexander Isak to Liverpool?
As things stand, it is our understanding that Newcastle will not, at this stage, sanction the sale of Isak.
They required two strikers to come through the door to even consider it, but they have struggled all summer to even sign one - making a final week sale of Isak to Liverpool less and less likely.
That leaves Newcastle with a very expensive, very highly-rated striker out of the team, training away from his teammates.
And with that in mind, Anthony Gordon is again set to lead the line for Magpies against Arne Slot’s side, with Harvey Barnes on the left and Anthony Elanga down the right.
