Jalen Milroe Has Honest Admission About Recent Performance

The Seattle Seahawks rolled the dice when they took Jalen Milroe in the 2025 NFL Draft.

He was always a polarizing prospect, but the potential was clearly there.

They gave him an extensive chance to showcase his skills in the preseason, and there was some good and some bad.

Unfortunately for him, turnovers were a big issue.

He lost three fumbles in the 20-7 loss to the Green Bay Packers.

When asked about that, however, he claimed not to be too discouraged about the situation, although he acknowledged that he needed to do better (via Brady Henderson).

“I’ve got to be better with ball security,” Milroe said.

Jalen Milroe seems to be a lot more like Russell Wilson than Geno Smith in this sense: he doesn’t get too high or too low. Here he was talking to @johnpboyle about his first start. He said the fumbles, like any QB turnover, were on him. “I’ve got to be better with ball security.” pic.twitter.com/KUlXUVWHCN

Milroe played in all three preseason games, and he was out there for the whole preseason finale.

He lost a fumble on a sack at his own 30-yard line in the first quarter.

Then, he lost the football after seemingly securing a three-yard gain on fourth-and-1 on his own 44-yard line in the second quarter.

He later capped off the night with a fumble at the Packers’ 22-yard line in the fourth quarter.

Milroe has the physical tools to be an elite dual-threat quarterback, but he might need a year or two on the shelf before being ready for some real game action.

He was always going to be a long-term bet, so this shouldn’t change the team’s plans.

He’s currently behind veterans Sam Darnold and Drew Lock on the depth chart and rightfully so, but he’s also likely to take the field in certain packages to make the most of his speed and mobility.
