What Nuno Espirito Santo did after Nottingham Forest drew with Crystal Palace speaks volumes

Nottingham Forest claimed their annual draw at Selhurst Park, as for a fourth consecutive time, the Reds earned a share of the spoils at the home of Crystal Palace.

Callum Hudson-Odoi scored his first goal of the season, scoring beyond Dean Henderson after being sent through on goal by Dan Ndoye.

Forest might have nicked it late on when Igor Jesus smashed the ball against the upright but in truth, a draw provided a fair reflection of the game.

Before the contest, Nuno Espirito Santo suggested what would happen at Forest this week amid claims that his future is up in the air.

After the game, the fans were in no doubt as to where their loyalties lie over the whole off-field situation that is hanging over the club.

What Nuno Espirito Santo did after Forest drew with Crystal Palace

As the Sky Sports cameras showed after the game, Espirito Santo went straight over to the fans after completing his handshake formalities with Oliver Glasner.

In fairness, there was nothing too unusual after an away performance and he clapped the travelling fans and gave them a big thumbs up.

The hope now will be that the clear-the-air talks can go successfully and Espirito Santo can continue the great work that he’s started at the City Ground.

Forest have a Europa League campaign to look forward to and the hope will be that Espirito Santo is the one leading the Reds into that competition when things start.

Forest can take heart from Crystal Palace outing

The Reds battled hard in this game and as the second half wore on following Hudson-Odoi’s goal, there really did look like being only one winner.

When Jesus rattled the post and Omari Hutchinson fired over, it felt like a bit of a missed opportunity but a point on the road after last week’s good win isn’t to be sniffed at.

Now, the focus will be back on Espirito Santo and his future, with West Ham coming to Trentside next weekend looking for their first point of the campaign.

Given the off-field distractions, this has to go down as a positive performance and the hope will be that the new players can get another week of training under their belt and be even better next week.
