Philadelphia Eagles general manager Howie Roseman likes to make moves on a Sunday as he did more than just make a NFL Earth shattering trade.
Roseman got to work on finding a new backup quarterback to fill in for the injured Tanner McKee as the Eagles traded for Sam Howell. Along with that trade, the Eagles had to waive safety Lewis Cine with an injury designation.
We have agreed to acquire QB Sam Howell and a 2026 6th-round pick from the Vikings in exchange for a 2026 5th-round pick and a 2027 7th-round pick. We have waived/injured DB Lewis Cine. pic.twitter.com/EXb7p6tCyq

Cine signed with the Eagles a month before winning their second Super Bowl against the Kansas City Chiefs. He did not appear in any games last year.
During three preseason games with the Eagles, Cine finished with two tackles and an interception. He had one tackle and a pass deflection in the team's 19-17 win over the New York Jets.
It never looked great for Cine to make the Eagles' 53-man roster
The safety position is pretty solid for the Eagles. Reed Blankenship is the star of the unit, with Andrew Mukuba and Sydney Brown battling for the other starting job. Tristin McCollum gives the Eagles the depth they needed at the position.
Cine has never really been able to break through in the NFL after being a former first round pick of the Minnesota Vikings. He had a stop with the Buffalo Bills as well, but made just one career tackle.
If Eagles fans want to look at another angle to this story, it suggests that Mukuba's injury, which he suffered last week at training camp, may not be as bad. This will hopefully demonstrate that he may be ready to take the field in Week 1 against the Cowboys.

Cine now needs to recover from his injury and if he can get healthy, the Eagles might bring him back in the future on the practice squad.
