Pittsburgh Steelers cut former Patriots cornerback

The Pittsburgh Steelers have cut ties with former New England Patriots cornerback Mikey Victor, the team announced.

Victor was signed by the team in August after injuries, and was part of the first wave of 11 cuts the team made on Friday.

Victor is an Alabama State alumni who joined the New England Patriotsfor training camp in his rookie season. During the preseason, Victor finished with four tackles, but was released and spent no time on their practice squad. He was a finalist for the Aeneas Williams Award in his final season at Alabama State, which awards the best defensive back from an HBCU.

The Steelers hosted Victor for a tryout in January, but did not sign him. His standout trait is his length, and he stands at 6-foot-2, 205 pounds. He has an 80-inch wingspan to go along with that height, making him an ideal depth press man coverage cornerback.
