Chelsea fans are saying the same thing as details emerge about Carney Chukwuemeka’s imminent sale

Carney Chukwuemeka is expected to leave Chelsea permanently after three years at the club.

The Blues signed Carney Chukwuemeka in August 2022 for around £20m (BBC) from Aston Villa. However, he’s played just 32 first-team matches for the Blues and was loaned out to Borussia Dortmund in the second half of last season.

He’s now strongly tipped to be returning to Dortmund on a permanent basis.

Journalist Fabrizio Romano reports via X that Dortmund have agreed to purchase Chukwuemeka from Chelsea in a deal worth €25m (£22m).

Even though the 21-year-old Englishman has failed to break through at Chelsea, partly because of injuries, the club are showing their prowess in the transfer market to sell him for a small profit.

Dortmund expected to re-sign Chukwuemeka after selling Jamie Gittens to Chelsea earlier this summer. It’s turning out to be quite a fruitful relationship between the team from the German Bundesliga and the Premier League club.

Chelsea fans delighted with Carney Chukwuemeka deal

Chelsea supporters on social media think they’re pulling off a great piece of transfer business with Chukwuemeka’s imminent sale to Dortmund.

Here are Blues fans on X praising the latest transfer negotiation…

One fan wrote: “I just checked and bought Carney for £20m. Wow wow wow. After all his injuries, we still made a profit. Wow.

“Great business from Chelsea,” another wrote.

One supporter posted: “That’s a pretty good fee. Any other club will find it harder to sell Carney for that price.”

“He doesn’t fit in our midfield. €25m fee is really good for a player everyone knows had to go,” another said.

Even though Chukwuemeka’s agent explored a move to Juventus for his client earlier this summer, he’s about to rejoin Dortmund, this time on a permanent basis.

We agree with Chelsea fans that his deal feels like smart business from the club.

Yes, Chukwuemeka has the potential and ability to develop into something fantastic if he stays fit. However, his time with the Blues has come to a natural conclusion because there’s no room for him in the squad, so cashing in now is a no-brainer.

What’s Chelsea’s best sale of the summer?

The Blues have been experts in selling players recently, particularly this summer. We’ve seen a lot of high-profile players leave as the evolution of the squad continues under Enzo Maresca.

If we were picking out Chelsea’s standout sale from this transfer window, Noni Madueke would be the pick.

Even though we do rate Madueke, 23, as a talented right-winger, the decision to offload him made sense for plenty of reasons.

First of all, Arsenal paid £52m (Sky Sports) to sign Madueke in July, which is a great sum to receive for Chelsea. On top of that, his exit has directly paved the way for 18-year-old rising star Estevao Willian to join the squad and get minutes.
