Yoane Wissa is still pushing for a move away from Brentford this summer, with the hope that a move to Newcastle United will come to fruition.
The Magpies’ striker search continues, but as it stands, they will not have a new frontman once the transfer window slams shut on September 1.
While Alexander Isak is still refusing to change his stance on leaving Newcastle United, head coach Eddie Howe is keen to find a replacement for Callum Wilson, who left the club in July upon the expiry of his contract.
Howe can use William Osula up front, but Anthony Gordon is currently being favoured over the 22-year-old, despite the latter being a natural left winger. Newcastle are hoping to get a deal for Yoane Wissa over the line before the end of the transfer window. The 28-year-old has informed Brentford of his decision to leave the Bees this summer and, like Isak, is not available to play while the transfer saga is going on.
With Wissa ‘desperate’ to join Newcastle, TalkSPORT presenter Natalie Sawyer has shared what she has heard about his chances of leaving the London-based club before the deadline.

Yoane Wissa called ‘pathetic’ by Natalie Sawyer amid Newcastle United interest
Keith Andrews welcomed Wissa back to first-team training this week, but the forward was not named in the matchday squad for their 1-0 win against Aston Villa on Saturday.
Having made his intention to leave known, Wissa deleted all mention of Brentford on his social media, a sign that his time at the club could be coming to an end.
There was talk of a gentleman’s agreement between Wissa and Brentford earlier this summer. However, TalkSPORT’s Natalie Sawyer was quick to debunk any rumours.

“Whilst I’ve been away, I’ve seen that he’s deleted all mentions of Brentford on his Instagram account,” she said.
“This is a 28-year-old man, let’s remember that, he’s a man. I never thought I would see the day that someone would go to this petty level to delete all mentions of the club that have given you the platform to get this big money move to Newcastle is just ridiculous, and so petty, so pathetic.
“I’m so saddened for the way he is dealing with things. Now, of course he will say, and his representatives will say there was an agreement in place that (Brentford) would sell Yoane Wissa for a set fee. Now, my sources, and I’ve got very close sources on this one, who have told me that there was never a gentleman’s agreement.
“That is just pie in the sky stuff. And if there was a gentleman’s agreement, well, the agent didn’t do his job by getting it written on paper.”
Brentford still hold the aces in Yoane Wissa’s transfer saga
The hope on Tyneside is that a deal for Wissa can be done before the transfer window closes, but a lot of work must be done before that can happen.
Should the deal fail to go through, Howe will be hoping that Isak will remain at the club and quickly reintegrate himself with the first team.
With Newcastle already making two bids, it is clear that Brentford can do what they like in their talks for Wissa. The DR Congo international has not handed in a transfer request, and has an option left on his current deal with the Bees, which can be triggered at any time.
Brentford have stood firm with their high price tag for Wissa, with reports suggesting it is as much as £60m now. Newcastle will need to up their offer significantly if they wish to bring the player to Tyneside before the deadline.
Wissa wants the move, but Brentford are adamant it is on terms that give them the means to find a quality replacement.
