Instant impact: Emile Smith Rowe
Manchester United are still searching for their first win of the new season after allowing a lead to slip in a 1-1 draw against Fulham.
The Red Devils took the lead shortly before the hour mark when Leny Yoro’s header found the back of the net via a wicked deflection off Rodrigo Muniz.
Chasing an equaliser, Fulham boss turned to Emile Smith Rowe and the substitute made an immediate impact by turning the ball past Altay Bayindir with one of his very first touches of the ball.
Despite no goals in the first-half, plenty of chances were spurned. Particularly by Man Utd and the biggest one fell to captain Bruno Fernandes after a penalty was awarded following a VAR review for Calvin Bassey’s foul on Mason Mount in the area.
Usually so reliable from 12 yards, however on this occasion, Fernandes smashed his spot-kick over the bar to sum up an opening 45 minutes for the visitors in which Matheus Cunha hit the post and saw a wonderful effort superbly saved by Bernd Leno.
