'Worked well...' Spanish media react to Wolves transfer target in Barcelona display

Wolves are still in the hunt for players to add quality to their squad, and Barcelona’s Marc Casado recently popped up as a target.

According to reports, Wolves sent an offer for Marc Casado, and then later a journalist said Wolves were pushing hardest for the midfielder.

Despite both the manager and the player himself wanting his future at Camp Nou, the Spaniard may have to leave in search of more minutes.

But on Saturday, Flick did show his trust in the player by starting him, and here is how he got on.

How Marc Casado performed in first Barcelona start of the season

Marc Casado was given the nod ahead of Gavi as Barcelona travelled to Levante. It was a show of faith from Hansi Flick who is desperate to keep hold of the player.

While he was able to prevent a goal with a last ditch tackle on José Morales, the Blaugrana went into half-time 2-0 down.

When the two sides came out for the second 45, it was Gavi who came out, rather than Casado. After just one half, Flick had taken the Wolves target off.

After the substitution, the Catalan club went on to complete the comeback, winning 3-2.

In relation to Casado’s performance, Spanish outlet Marca said the midfielder “worked well,” and described his tackle on Morales as “a great recovery.”

However, the media organisation also said the “experiment” of starting Casado “didn’t work.”

They put into question his future involvement for Barcelona and that could bring good news for Pereira as he wants at least three more signings.

Marc Casado’s minutes could still be limited despite Barcelona start

Marc Casado may have started against Levante, but with being substituted at half-time, and Frenkie de Jong to return to the side, his chances of minutes are quite slim.

Ahead of him are Pedri, Gavi, and the Dutchman. Due to this, Marca expect Casado to have limited involvement, saying, “will Casadó have continuity in the starting eleven, or is he just a one-timer? Seeing as he was substituted at half-time, it doesn’t seem like it.”

Convincing Marc Casado to make the switch to Molineux will be an extremely difficult task. The player wants to stay, and so does his manager.

However, in a World Cup year, the threat of limited minutes could sway the midfielder to seek game time elsewhere.

If one thing is to be true, it would be that he would add much-needed quality to Vitor Pereira’s squad.
