Counting down the five worst Leeds United shirts of the Premier League era.
Leeds United are back in the Premier League following two years in the Championship and are ready to stamp their mark. They won the second tier title last season under the guidance of former Norwich City man Daniel Farke. The Whites ended up going up to the top flight along with Burnley and Sunderland and will be excited for the future now.
The Yorkshire club will be hoping to establish themselves at the top level and prove that they belong there. They have the chance to bring in some more new faces before the end of the transfer window with the deadline on Monday 1st September at 7pm. They can also let some players head out the exit door as well if needed to free up space and funds. In the meantime, here is a look at their five worst kits from the Premier League era...
5. 2020/21 Away Kit

Leeds’ away kit was made by Nike back in the 2020/21 season. It was a dark green striped design with a gold trim. It aimed for a sophisticated look but looked dull and uninspired, with the green used looking disconnected from their traditional colours.
The lack of vibrancy make it a forgettable jersey. It looks more like a training shirt looking back and it lacked the boldness expected for a Premier League side. They ended that campaign in 9th which wasn’t a bad outcome at all and one that was celebrated at the time.
4. 1998/99 Third Kit

Puma produced Leeds’ third shirt back in 1998/99 before the turn of the century. It was a very loud yellow top with blue accents and was used pretty sparingly that particular year. It again clashed with the club’s identity as the yellow was too sparkling, whilst the goalkeeper wore green and black.
The yellow used was overly bright and the blue didn’t gel well with it. It looked cheap and was hardly ever used making it easily forgettable. The Whites finished in an impressive 4th that year but mainly wore their home and away shirts.
3. 2023/24 Away Kit

Adidas created a fluorescent yellow inspired away kit for Leeds in 2023/24 with dark blue botches. The colour was a garish choice and looked glow in the dark. The loud colour combination was meant to be eye-catching but ended up being an eye-sore.
The colours used clashes and had a lack of connection to the Whites’ heritage. It appeared tacky and wasn’t as clean as the home shirt that year. They were relegated that term as well to make matters worse. Their manager at the time was Jesse Marsch but the American struggled to fill the void left by the popular Marcelo Bielsa’s exit.
2. 2025/26 Third Kit

Leeds are sponsored by Adidas these days and their kits have generally proved pretty popular. Their third kit this season is black with blue and yellow botches. It looks like someone has vomited the home and away kits though. It is messy and lacks aesthetic coherence.
It is an attempt at a modern look but has faced some fan backlash. Farke will be hoping his team can stay up and avoid an immediate return to the Football League. It has been well documented how tough the step up in quality is. They won 1-0 in their first game against Everton with Lukas Nmecha scoring the winner from the penalty spot after they were awarded a controversial penalty.
1. 1992/93 Away Kit

Admiral made Leeds’ kit for the first season of the Premier League but this one has gone down in history for all the wrong reasons. It was a blue top that featured a mottled, chaotic pattern. It looked more like a ‘90s printer malfunction.
It was a stark contrast to the Championship-winning shirt of the year before. Coming off the back of such a great campaign, this kit was a big disappointment. The messy design and dated aesthetic sparked wide criticism from their supporters and didn’t go down well. Many supporters will remember it but not for the right reasons.
