Gary Neville spotted'absolutely brilliant'Matheus Cunha moment in Man United vs Fulham

Manchester United were held to a 1-1 draw against Fulham but there were some standout moments in the performance.

The Red Devils picked up their first point of the 2025/26 Premier League season at Craven Cottage, but Ruben Amorim will be frustrated that his side couldn’t pick up the win.

Bruno Fernandes missed a penalty in the first half and it proved costly for Manchester United. Leny Yoro opened the scoring from a corner, but Emile Smith Rowe drew Fulham level after coming off the bench.

New signing Matheus Cunha started up front once again with Benjamin Sesko waiting until the second half to come on as a substitute.

While Cunha’s wait for a first goal for United continues, he showed his brilliance against Fulham.

Matheus Cunha’s ‘brilliant’ moment against Fulham

Last season, Cunha produced a ‘masterclass’ against Fulham at Craven Cottage but he wasn’t quite able to replicate it in a United shirt.

However, that doesn’t mean the Brazilian did not come close. Cunha attempted three shots against the Cottagers, with the first coming within the opening two minutes.

Just 15 minutes in, Cunha connected with Altay Bayindir’s long, looping pass and was able to pluck it out the sky and test Bernd Leno.

United legend Gary Neville was on commentary for Sky Sports and he was amazed by Cunha’s control.

“This touch is absolutely brilliant, but Cunha should score – it is a good reaction save from the ‘keeper, Leno is so close to him and he just sticks that left arm out,” Neville said.

Man United struggling to create chances

After United’s positive display against Arsenal, the performance against Fulham was a reality check for the Red Devils.

Despite Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and Benjamin Sesko featuring at Craven Cottage, United again struggled to carve out clear-cut chances.

Yoro’s goal came from a set piece, while United’s only other real chance on goal came from the penalty spot.

Amorim cut a frustrated figure on the sidelines as his side failed to grasp control of the clash, and the lack of chances will be a real worry.

With Grimsby Town and Burnley up next, Amorim will expect much more from his new-look attack in the coming days.
