Tens of thousands of people poured into Manchester City Centre this weekend for the annual Pride celebrations. And while the party is by no means over, it's worth taking stock of everything that's unfolded so far.
Taking place over the August Bank Holiday Weekend, the annual LGBTQ+ celebration is one the biggest events of its kind in the country outside of London. Over the years, it has featured big name performers including Ariana Grande, Dannii Minogue, Rita Ora, Jake Shears, Cheryl and Sugababes.
This year, Saturday night was headlined by former Little Mix star Leigh-Anne, while Sunday night will see singer, actor and LGBTQ+ activist Olly Alexander and Canadian superstar Nelly Furtado front the main stage at Depot Mayfield.
This year’s Manchester Pride has featured a new Mardi Gras stage area, located at Depot Mayfield. This is a ticketed area and has been where the main headliners have been performing across Saturday and Sunday.
Other artists performing today (Sunday 24 August) include Tulisa, Sister Sledge featuring Kathy Sledge, Danny Beard, Jodie Harsh, Louisa Johnson, Angie Brown, and Divas Only with Misty Chance.
There's also been a host of takeovers and curated shows, including a special Saturday line-up of Black Pride MCR - which celebrates local, emerging and big names across the QTIBPOC and BAME communities.
Yesterday, the streets were also filled full of colour as the Manchester Pride parade headed through the city centre. Taking on a theme inspired by Love, the joyous celebration saw thousands take part, and even more head out to support them and the cause.
This year marks 40 years since the inception of Manchester Pride began. In 1985, the first official event took place but it wasn’t known as Manchester Pride back then - and has had a number of names over the years, including Gay Week, Manchester Mardi Gras and Gayfest.
Over the last few days, the has been filled full of celebration, bold outfit choices and plenty of love as festival-goers poured out of the bars and venues to soak up the very best of the party vibes.
In terms of the fashion fits, everything from cowboy-inspired outfits and glittered adorned leotards to rainbow accessories and fishnet ensembles has been accounted for.
