Serie A club's key official comments on links with 25-year-old Manchester United flop

AS Roma sporting director Frederic Massara has commented on the Serie A club’s links with Manchester United flop Jadon Sancho.

Jadon Sancho’s future has been uncertain since the start of the summer. The England international, who spent last season on loan at Chelsea, returned to Manchester United after the Blues activated a £5 million penalty clause to send him back.

Despite putting in some impressive performances during his time at Stamford Bridge, Chelsea decided against signing him permanently. While the Englishman is back at Old Trafford, he has no future at the club. With his deal running out in 12 months, Manchester United are looking to cash in on him.

The player is also keen on leaving, but he is not willing to compromise on financial and technical factors. AS Roma were closing in on his signature. The Serie A giants pretty much had an agreement in place with Manchester United, but Sancho has turned down the move.

AS Roma fail in their attempt to sign Sancho

AS Roma sporting director Frederic Massara was recently asked about their pursuit of Sancho. He indicated that nothing has changed since Monday, following the England international’s rejection.

Massara said via Fabrizio Romano, “There are no conditions to proceed with this deal, especially as Sancho doesn’t have the motivations to join AS Roma”.

While multiple top clubs have been linked with the Manchester United flop, AS Roma have been the most serious suitors so far. They were reportedly ready to fork out £20 million to add him to their squad. The Red Devils were ready to give the green light to the move.

However, agreeing on personal terms with Sancho became a massive headache. The 25-year-old winger was not willing to compromise on his wages. After long-drawn negotiations, he turned down the opportunity. The reason is believed to be both financial and technical factors.

With Massara suggesting that Sancho does not have the motivation to join them, AS Roma are unlikely to make another attempt to lure him. It is a massive blow for Manchester United, who have been eager to get him off their books, as he is one of their highest-paid players.

They will be hoping another top club, like Bayern Munich, comes forward and manages to convince Sancho in the coming days, as the transfer deadline is fast approaching.
