Browns Provide Major Update About Kenny Pickett's Future

The Cleveland Browns have completed their preseason schedule and are now focused on figuring out and finalizing their final 53-man roster. At the quarterback position, it sounds like the team will be carrying four players into the regular season.

Joe Flacco will be the Browns' Week 1 starter. Behind him, they are expected to have Kenny Pickett as their primary backup, Dillon Gabriel at No. 3 on the depth chart, and Shedeur Sanders at No. 4.

Pickett has missed the entire preseason due to a hamstring injury. That has had some concerned about his status for Week 1.

A new update has been provided about where Pickett stands in his recovery.

Kevin Stefanski, the head coach in Cleveland, spoke out about Pickett's status during his press conference on Sunday. He shared that the team expects the 27-year-old quarterback to be ready to roll for Week 1 against the Cincinnati Bengals.

That is big news for the Browns. Both Gabriel and Sanders have great potential, but having them one snap away from the field in the first game of the season might not be an ideal scenario.

As for Pickett, the young quarterback has not been able to put together the kind of career that had been expected from him when he was drafted No. 20 overall in the 2022 NFL Draft by the Pittsburgh Steelers. Despite that fact, he still possesses great talent himself.

Throughout his NFL career to this point, Pickett has played in 30 total games. He has completed 62.4 percent of his passes for 4,765 yards, 15 touchdowns, and 14 interceptions, while also running for 306 yards and five scores.

While Cleveland has yet to finalize its roster, fans should expect to see Pickett remain with the team. They should also expect Flacco, Gabriel, and Sanders to remain in town.

It will be interesting to monitor the Browns' quarterback situation throughout the year. Pickett may not end up playing a lot, but having him healthy and ready to go to start the season would be great news for Cleveland.

Expect to hear more about the Browns' final roster in the near future. For now, it's all good updates regarding Pickett.
