Barcelona returned to work on Sunday with a light training session to recover from Saturday’s dramatic La Liga win against Levante, and one of the members of the squad was missing from the practice.
Andreas Christensen, who played the final 20 minutes on Saturday in his first appearance of the season, requested permission from Hansi Flick to not attend the session after waking up with a ‘general discomfort’, as reported by Catalan media. Flick approved Christensen’s request, and it appears there is no injury issue to worry about with the Dane.
Any injury-related news regarding Christensen are certainly a cause for concern given the nightmare he went through last season with a number of lower leg injuries that caused him to miss virtually the entire campaign, but it appears there’s nothing serious to worry about this time.
Christensen’s healthy is even more important this season given the departure of Iñigo Martínez, so keeping the Dane fit will be a big priority for Flick and the coaching staff throughout the year.
