Tottenham Hotspur have been left in quite a difficult situation in this last stretch of the summer transfer window as they have missed out on one of their top-priority transfer targets with only a few days left to get their hands on an alternative.
Spurs were quite close to landing the Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze a few days ago. However, Arsenal made an unexpected move to hijack this deal, leaving their North London rivals in a quagmire.
Now, Tottenham are looking at some alternative targets to ensure Thomas Frank has a good replacement for James Maddison, who is currently out with a long-term injury.
In fact, as per a report from Africafoot, Spurs themselves can hijack quite an advanced operation of Crystal Palace to sign the 21 year old attacking midfielder Bilal El-Khannous. Palace seemed to be very close to landing the young forward in recent days, but Tottenham have now entered the race for his signing.
The Eagles had already reached an agreement in principle with the player and had convinced him to join their sporting project. Now, they are in negotiations with Leicester City to purchase him for a sum around €35 million.

However, these negotiations are now set to get increasingly complicated as Spurs have entered the race. Daniel Levy himself has initiated the Lilywhites’ operation to sign the midfielder, and there could be some twists and turns in this operation as the transfer market approaches its end.
After having missed out on Morgan Gibbs-White and Eberechi Eze, Bilal El-Khannous could be an interesting addition to Thomas Frank’s team, especially after James Maddison’s injury and Son Heung-Min’s departure.
Although the 21-year-old has been playing in the Championship since Leicester City’s relegation, he has maintained his impressive form, and has been one of the most promising youngsters in his position.
Last season, he played 32 games in the Premier League, scoring 2 goals and providing 3 assists. Thus, in addition to his skills and potential for further growth, he also has experience of playing in top flight English football, and thus he is a particularly well-suited candidate for Spurs as they look to strengthen the attacking midfield position.
