Real Madrid complicating Tottenham’s move for 20-year-old Argentine starlet

Tottenham are still looking for offensive reinforcements but Real Madrid could complicate Nico Paz attempt

Tottenham Hotspur have had an excellent start to the 2025-26 season. After having beaten Burnley with a 3-0 scoreline in the opening game of their new Premier League campaign, the Lilywhites went on to get another amazing victory over one of the strongest sides in England, Manchester City, with a 2-0 scoreline in their second game.

These two wins would definitely have raised the mood of the Spurs fans, who were left feeling quite dejected from one of the recent failures of the transfer market, i.e., the failure to land the Crystal Palace forward Eberechi Eze.

Although the North London side has not shown any dearth of attacking options in these first two games of the season, the club still looks to keen to add another forward to Thomas Frank’s squad, mainly to mitigate the impact of the long-term injury suffered by James Maddison during the preseason.

Real Madrid complicating their move for Nico Paz

Tottenham are still looking for offensive reinforcements but Real Madrid could complicate Nico Paz attempt.

One of the players Tottenham have been linked with following their failure in the Eze operation has been the Como midfielder Nico Paz. Spurs deny having made any offer for the player, but the club likes the Argentine a lot, and are considering a move for him. In fact, contacts for this operation are already underway through intermediaries.

However, as per a report from Express, the involvement of Real Madrid in this operation is significantly complicating it for the North London side. The Merengues have several rights over the player, including a 50% sell-on right. Owing to this contractual situation, Como are reluctant to part ways with the Argentine youngster, and would allow him to move only for a very high price. The report claims that the Italians can ask for a sum as high as £60 million for Paz.

But beyond these complications, there is no doubt that Nico Paz could be a very good addition to this Spurs team. The youngster has grown by leaps and bounds during the last few years, and his time in Italy has been particularly fruitful. At 20 years of age, the Argentine still has some years to continue growing and can become a top-level player.
