As the closing days of roster finalization roll on, the Cleveland Browns announced that former Alabama defensive back Tony Brown has been cut according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Up to this point in his career, Brown has spent time with 4 organizations through 6 seasons.
He entered the league as an undrafted free agent and signed with the Los Angeles Chargers before joining the Green Bay Packers for the 2018 and 2019 campaigns. Brown appeared sparingly over 20 games with the Packers, recording 45 tackles.
Brown then landed in Cincinnati for the COVID-impacted 2020 season and again was a rotational piece in the Bengals’ secondary. Following a year away from the league, Brown joined the Indianapolis Colts from 2022-23, appearing in 28 games over that span.
The Browns signed Brown prior to the 2024 campaign, but the Alabama product only managed 5 total tackles and 1 forced fumble in six games of action.

Brown resided in Tuscaloosa during arguably Nick Saban‘s greatest run with the program. He was a member of the 2015 and 2017 national title teams and qualified for the College Football Playoff in all four years he played for the Crimson Tide.
The Texas native finished his Alabama career with 89 total tackles, 6 tackles for loss, 3 interceptions and 5 pass breakups.
