Browns Start Process of Trimming Roster to 53 Players by Releasing 21 Players, Including Tyler…

BEREA -- The Cleveland Browns have begun to trim their roster ahead of the NFL mandated 53 player roster limit by Tuesday Aug. 26 at 4 pm. The Browns released 21 players on Sunday, including 17 players that were waived and four veteran players who had their contracts terminated.

The Browns have made the following roster moves, including terminating the contracts of offensive tackle Jackson Barton, cornerback Tony Brown II, quarterback Tyler Huntley and safety Nik Needham.

In addition, the Browns waived, cornerback Chigozie Anusiem, tight end Sal Canella, guard Javion Cohen, offensive tackle Sebastian Gutierrez, defensive end K.J. Henry, defensive tackle Ralph Holley, cornerback Christian Holmes, cornerback Keenan Isaac, offensive tackle Jason Ivey, defensive end Titus Leo, linebacker Marvin Moody, cornerback Darius Rush, linebacker Charlie Thomas III, offensive tackle Lorenzo Thompson, guard Dartanyan Tinsley, tight end Mitchell Van Vooren and center Bucky Williams.

The Browns have 69 players on the roster currently. After the initial roster is set at 53, the team can form a 16-player practice squad.
