Alejandro Garnacho'very optimistic'about potential transfer, agreement could be reached with swap deal rejected

Alejandro Garnacho is ‘very optimistic’ about completing a transfer to Chelsea this summer.

Time is running out for Premier League clubs to get their business done with the transfer window scheduled to shut on September 1.

Manchester United have struggled to sell players this summer, with Ruben Amorim sending a handful of players into exile at the beginning of pre-season.

Amorim told five United outcasts to stay away from the first team, which meant most of them spent the summer training by themselves.

Marcus Rashford is the only player from that list to secure a move away from Old Trafford, after completing a switch to Barcelona.

That means Antony, Alejandro Garnacho, Jadon Sancho and Tyrell Malacia all remain at United, despite not being part of the head coach’s plans for the future.

These players are running out of time to find new clubs.

Chelsea have been interested in Garnacho all summer, but the Blues have been reluctant to meet United’s asking price.

It is understood that United want £50 million for Garnacho and both clubs remain in talks over an agreement.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Garnacho is ‘very optimistic’ about joining Chelsea and there is expectation that an agreement will be reached next week.

Romano adds that talks took place over an exchange deal, including Chelsea’s Tyrique George, but they were rejected.

“I can also tell you that Chelsea 100 per cent expect Alejandro Garnacho deal to happen, so I fully think we will have a ‘here we go’ this week for Garnacho,” Romano said via YouTube.

“For sure, Alejandro Garnacho is expected to become a Chelsea player. This is the message coming very strong to the player from Chelsea, so the player feels that in the end this deal will happen.

“Alejandro Garnacho is very optimistic about this Chelsea move and he turned down many opportunities in Italy, Saudi, Germany and also the Premier League. He wants to go to Chelsea.”

“The expectation is for Chelsea to proceed with this deal for Alejandro Garnacho. There were some rumours about the possibility of including Tyrique George as part of the conversation between Manchester United and Chelsea. This is a behind-the-scenes story I can reveal to you on this negotiation between Chelsea and Man United.

“From what I’m told, this option was already stopped a few weeks ago, so at the moment Tyrique George is not part of the conversations.”

Who is Tyrique George?

Chelsea winger Tyrique George has been strongly linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge this summer.

The 19-year-old enjoyed a breakout season at Chelsea last term, scoring three goals and registering five assists in 26 appearances.

George slipped down the pecking order after Chelsea signed Jamie Bynoe-Gittens, and he’ll fall further if the Blues secure Garnacho’s signature.

United appear to have pushed back a chance to sign George from Chelsea.
