Spurs have £60 million bid for Serie A midfielder rejected

Tottenham Hotspur sit second in the Premier League table after a stunning 2-0 win against Manchester City on Saturday.

Goals from Brennan Johnson and Joao Palhinha earned Thomas Frank’s side an impressive win over the Citizens at The Etihad, building on their 3-0 victory over Burnley on the opening weekend.

The Lilywhites have added Mohammed Kudus to Frank’s squad this summer, while Kevin Danso and Mathys Tel have also joined the club permanently after loan spells last term.

Now, it has emerged that the London side have had a huge offer for a Serie A youngster rejected.

As per Fabrizio Romano, Tottenham have had an offer in the region of £60 million for youngster Nico Paz rejected by Italian outfit Como.

The attacking midfielder left Real Madrid Castilla to join Como last year, and has now played 37 times for the Italian side across all competitions, scoring seven goals and providing ten assists.

Romano claims that the Argentina international is keen to stay put at Como, with a view to potentially one day returning to former side Real Madrid.

It is also claimed that the La Liga giants were intent on matching any offer that was accepted for Paz, with the Spanish side keen to re-sign the attacking midfielder.

Real are said to have the opportunity to sign Paz for a fee of around £8.6 million next summer, however the Spanish side will compensate Como in the future if they do activate the clause, Romano claims.

Paz – who is contracted to Como until the summer of 2028 – scored and provided an assist as Como beat Lazio 2-0 in their opening match of the new Serie A season on Sunday.

Spurs are set to be without attacking midfielder James Maddison for the majority of the current campaign after the England international suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury.
