Primeira Liga club now want to sign £26m Arsenal star - Ben Jacobs

Porto could sign Arsenal defender Jakub Kiwior, according to journalist Ben Jacobs.

The 25-year-old has his sights on playing regular first-team football this season.

Kiwoir prefers a move away from the Premier League, and Porto are optimistic of signing the Poland international on loan with an obligation to buy.

Nothing is finalised yet, but the Primeira Liga outfit are hoping for an agreement by early next week.

Arsenal must offload Kiwior only at the right price

Kiwior had a mixed beginning to his Arsenal career. He was inconsistent with his positioning and also struggled to come to terms with the physicality of the Premier League.

However, he has made significant improvements in both aspects. The Pole was brilliant alongside William Saliba in the backend of last season after Gabriel’s hamstring injury.

Kiwior was considered a potential weak link towards the end of the campaign, but he outperformed Saliba, who was guilty of making unforced errors instead.

Arsenal presently value him at around £26 million, and we believe the hierarchy should hold out for the figure if Porto propose a loan with an obligation to buy him.

The Gunners could easily secure the package from another Premier League club in future, but Kiwior seems keen on pursuing a new challenge away from England.

Porto appear to be his preferred destination. Arsenal may oblige to the player’s request, but the club should not provide a discount on their current valuation.

Alongside Kiwior, Fabio Vieira, Reiss Nelson, Oleksandr Zinchenko and Albert Sambi Lokonga are anticipated to depart before the transfer window closes.

Fulham have restarted talks with Arsenal regarding a loan deal for Nelson, while Stuttgart are eyeing a loan deal for Vieira with an obligation to buy for £17m.
