Kylian Mbappe scored twice as Real Madrid made it two wins from two matches at the start of their 2025-26 La Liga campaign with a 3-0 success over newly-promoted Real Oviedo.
The France international made the breakthrough in the 37th minute, scoring after smart work from Arda Guler, before Vinicius Junior set up his fellow attacker to score a second in the 83rd minute.
Vinicius then got in on the act in the third minute of stoppage time at the end of the 90.
Mbappe has now scored all three of Real Madrid's four league goals this season, and his brace has left Xabi Alonso's side in third spot in the La Liga table, level on six points with Villarreal and Barcelona.
As for Real Oviedo, a tough return to this level has seen them fail to collect a point from two games, with the promoted outfit currently down in 19th spot in the division.

Real Madrid are not where they want to be in terms of a team at the moment, and this was far from a perfect performance from the capital giants, but they managed to get the job done to move onto six points from two games.
In Mbappe, Los Blancos have one of the absolute superstars of world football, and he came up with two glorious finishes on Sunday night to ensure that Alonso's side would pick up all three points.
There has been a host of speculation surrounding Rodrygo's future, but the Brazil international started, playing until the 63rd minute, when he was replaced by Vinicius, who came up with the away side's third late on.
Dean Huijsen was again excellent in the middle of the Real Madrid defence, and it does appear that the Spain international will be a regular starter this term, leaving Eder Militao and Antonio Rudiger to battle for the other spot.
This was a solid yet unspectacular performance from Real Madrid against a Real Oviedo outfit that could find it difficult to compete at this level, with the lack of goals in their side a real concern.

Real Madrid double their advantage here, and it is a second of the match for Mbappe, with the Frenchman sweeping the ball into the bottom corner after excellent work from Vinicius Junior.

Mbappe scored twice for Real Madrid, but Guler was the star of the show, with the Turkey international putting in a wonderful performance to help his side collect all three points.
The 20-year-old provided the assist for Mbappe to score his opener, while he made two tackles and finished with a pass success rate of 94%, completing 61 of his 65 passes during his time on the field.
Mbappe will be given plenty of man-of-the-match awards this season, so Guler deserves this one.
