Tom Brady’s Raiders need QB depth after back-up fractures wrist

The Las Vegas Raiders quarterback depth took a hit this weekend.

Aidan O’Connell fractured his wrist in Las Vegas’ preseason finale against the Arizona Cardinals.

“That’s a big blow for us‚" Raiders coach Pete Carroll told reporters Saturday night after Las Vegas’ 20-10 loss.

O’Connell appeared in two series for Las Vegas and went 3-of-4 for 36 yards.

The third-year veteran, who was acquired by the Raiders in the offseason, was expected to be Geno Smith’s back-up going into the 2025 season.

The Raiders have rookie Cam Miller in their QB room, but Pete Carroll made it clear they will seek out a "an experienced player who can help us."

With Week 1 just a week away, the Raiders will now look to find a quarterback who has experience and can help Las Vegas should it need to go to its back-up for whatever reason.

With NFL rosters needing to be at 53 by Tuesday at 4 p.m., it’s possible the Raiders sign someone before then.
