'We battled hard': Scott satisfied with points in tough game vs Wolves

The Englishman played 66 minutes as Premier League football returned to Dean Court for another season, Bournemouth beating their visitors 1-0 after Marcus Tavernier’s goal inside the opening five minutes.

Reflecting on the game, Scott told the Daily Echo: “It was a strong performance last week and obviously Liverpool is a tough place to go and we knew we could have got something out of that game.

“It was important for us to come here first home game with the fans here and get three points.

“Especially with the run of fixtures we've got now we've got tough games so it's important to get the first three points on the board and hopefully we can go from there.”

“I think we did that with Tav getting the goal very early on and we started strong, aggressive as we always are and it paid off with Ty \[Tyler Adams\] pressing that jump and then Tav got his goal,” he said.

“But it was a tough game, they gave us a hard one today but I feel like we played well and we dominated most of it and definitely deserved three points.”

Wolves were reduced to ten men four minutes into the second half, as skipper Toti was given his marching orders for bringing down Evanilson as he raced in on goal.

But Scott said the game developed into one which did not suit Iraola’s side: “I think even in the first half it was a lot of stop start which didn't suit us at all.

“Obviously with the red as well, it's easier when it goes to 10 men but it also makes it harder as well because, especially for us, we're a team who we like to go front foot pressing and almost invite them to play.

“When they go to 10, it's a lot of long ball and second balls and fighting which doesn't really suit what we want to do and how we perform at our best but I think the lads stuck in well, maybe a few nervy moments at the end but it was a good three points.

“We battled hard and that's the main thing.”
