Manchester United are closing in on a deal to sign a goalkeeper before the transfer window closes, raising questions about the future of Andre Onana. As per reports, the negotiations have reached an advanced stage and the two parties are close to agreeing fee.
Manchester United are set to bring in a new goalkeeper to the side as they reportedly close in on a deal for Royal Antwerp’s Senne Lammens. The 23-year-old Belgian, who was being tracked by the club for a year, is expected to get a £16 million (over Rs 180 crore) deal with add-ons upon joining the Premier League team.
Lammens deal set to be finalised?
According to a report in the Mirror, Lammens is looking at United as his next club even though there are interests from other clubs such as Galatasaray, Inter Milan and Lille. Galatasaray reportedly tried a late bid on Saturday, August 23, but United are confident of sealing the player before the ongoing summer transfer window closes.
Meanwhile, football reporter Fabrizio Romano said that United and Lammens have already agreed on personal terms and talks over the transfer fee are almost done.

Lammens was left out of Royal Antwerp’s game against Mechelen on Sunday. He had featured in the team’s first four matches of the season but was excluded from their weekend game. This has further fuelled speculations of his transfer to Manchester United, where he is going to be their fourth goalkeeper option as Andre Onana, Altay Bayindir, and Tom Heaton are already part of the squad.
If the Lammens deal is finalised, it will put a question mark on the future of Onana. The Cameroon keeper has already lost his starting spot to Altay Bayindir, who was preferred in United’s first two Premier League games. Onana, who was bought for £47 million (over Rs 550 crore) from Inter Milan in 2023, has been inconsistent and could now think about leaving.
Meanwhile, United still have a big headache to take care of as four of their star players are looking for an exit before the window shuts on September 1. Alejandro Garnacho, Antony, Jadon Sancho, and Tyrell Malacia have been sidelined from the first-team and are training elsewhere. Earlier, it was reported that United manager Ruben Amorim wants to secure a fair deal for all four players before he allows them to leave.
