Wolverhampton Wanderers have made their move for Christantus Uche with an official €20 million bid to Getafe, Soccernet.ng reports.

The Premier League club are desperate to add a new striker before the close of the summer transfer window and have now stepped up negotiations with both Getafe and Uche’s representatives.

Wolves correspondent Liam Keen, cited by Fabrizio Romano, confirmed that talks are ongoing with the player’s camp, which shows that the Midlands are looking to wrap up the deal as soon as possible.

Getafe Under Pressure to Sell

While Getafe remain reluctant to lose one of their stars, the Spanish club’s financial troubles have left them in a tight spot.

Reports in Spain suggest that Getafe are struggling to register several new signings due to La Liga’s financial controls, with only three out of nine recruits currently registered.

Offloading the Super Eagles star has been touted as the most realistic solution to ease the burden.

The 22-year-old Nigerian’s release clause is set at €25 million, and his market value has surged significantly after standout performances last season.

Getafe only paid around €500,000 to secure him, but his impact has seen his valuation skyrocket, with interested clubs across Europe circling.

Everton and Others in the Race

Everton have been strongly linked with a €30 million move for Uche and were seen as the frontrunners before Wolves accelerated their pursuit.

Leeds United, Brentford, and even La Liga rivals Real Sociedad have also monitored the situation, but Wolves have now placed the first official bid on the table.

What's Next for the Super Eagles Star?

Per Diario AS, Getafe president Ángel Torres has admitted that the club may have no choice but to consider offers for Uche given their registration struggles, though he remains keen to hold onto the player if possible.

Wolves’ €20 million opening bid falls short of the release clause, but negotiations are expected to continue in the coming days as the club pushes to close the deal.
