The Spurs have committed $500 million to the project, with Holt confirming that the team will also cover any unforeseen construction overruns. On the public side, the City of San Antonio has pledged up to $489 million in support.
The proposal cleared its first major hurdle earlier this week, as the city council voted to advance the plan. The ultimate decision, however, rests with Bexar County voters, who will weigh in during November’s ballot.
Holt emphasized that the project represents a true public-private partnership. The facility would remain publicly owned, financed largely through visitor-generated revenue, and envisioned as a key driver of downtown revitalization.
Beyond the financial framework, Holt underscored the arena’s wider significance: creating jobs, boosting the local economy, energizing the city center, and offering future generations a vibrant community hub for sports, entertainment, and civic life.
