Derby County head to Turf Moor to face Burnley in the second round of the Carabao Cup on Tuesday night.
Derby County will be looking to pull off an upset and embark on a bit of a run in the Carabao Cup this season. Next up for DCFC is Burnley, who will pose a tough challenge on home turf.
It hasn’t been the easiest start to the season for the Rams as they contend with a number of injuries while still looking to do deals in the transfer market, but they were able to beat Championship rivals West Brom on penalties earlier this month to progress to the second round.
John Eustace’s side picked up their first points of the new league season at the weekend too, drawing 1-1 with Bristol City. The in-form Carlton Morris equalised late to secure a good point on home turf.

The Clarets responded to a poor opening day performance away to Tottenham Hotspur by beating fellow Premier League new boys Sunderland 2-0 at Turf Moor. Second half goals from Josh Cullen and Jaidon Anthony picked up a valuable three points.
Scott Parker and co will be favourites to win here, but the league is a clear priority this season, so it will be intriguing to see how he approaches the tie with DCFC.
Here, a handful of our writers make their predictions for the game…

“Derby County will be eager to pick up a good win here and I think Eustace will field a pretty strong side. However, Burnley were able to pride themselves on defensive solidity and home form on their way to Championship promotion, and back up against second tier opposition, they will be confident here.
“Carlton Morris is proving to be a hit early on at Pride Park and the hosts’ backline will have to be wary of him, whether he starts or comes on off the bench.

“Parker’s squad has been the subject of some stick early on but that Sunderland win served as a real reminder, and they’ll be determined to build on that.

“I’ll back them to do so too, with no surprises here. I’ll say Burnley beat DCFC to nil.”
Prediction: Burnley 2-0 Derby County
Harry Mail
“Burnley will be in confident mood after their win over Sunderland last time out in the Premier League. Scott Parker has the chance to freshen up his side with some changes here.

“Derby County have one point on the board so far this season. DCFC’s priority will be on the Championship.
“The Rams haven’t made the start they would have wanted to. However, they still have plenty of time to turn things around. This will be a tough test for John Eustace’s side at Turf Moor and I can’t see them getting through to the next round.”
Prediction: Burnley 2-1 Derby County
