Tez Johnson Looks Out For His Fellow Receivers
August 25th, 2025
Team guy.
One reason Bucs rookie receiver Tez Johnson is popular in the locker room isn’t just his engaging personality. It’s because he really does preach teamwork.
After Saturday night’s game, Johnson spoke to WFLA-TV Channel 8 reporter Aileen Hnatiuk. It seemed as if Johnson tried to call out every Bucs receiver from Emeka Egbuka down to Garrett Greene. He talked them all up.
On Greene having a touchdown catch:
“Greeny is my boy,” Johnson said. “I will do anything for Greeny. He’s a very big part of this team. He does everything for this team.
“You could put him out there on defense and he will make a play. I’m proud of Greeny.”
On Ryan Miller, who Johnson said cleared space for him in order for Johnson to be able to grab his touchdown catch:
“[Ryan Miller] made that touchdown,” Johnson said. “I literally ran right behind him. He’s the only reason I caught that touchdown pass. Thank you, Ryan Miller, for that.”
On the wide receivers room:
“We motivate each other to be better every single day,” Johnson said. “There is no bad blood in the room. We are brothers. We are like family.”
Joe thinks Johnson will make the 53-man roster. Todd Bowles has bragged about his play and shrugged off his mistakes.
And there is no question that Johnson is the kind of player Bucs AC/DC-loving general manager Jason Licht envisions when he cites his “I Am That Man” adage.
