11,070 was the attendance for our opening home game.
They saw a very lively start by the Cherries, taking the lead 4 minutes into the game with Marcus Tavernier scoring after an assist from Antoine Semenyo, with the ball taking a deflection before going in after hitting the underside of the bar.
Then the game became ‘messy’ with Wolves players going down injured.
The sides went in with AFCB 1-0 up at half-time.
The second half started and again after 4 minutes, there was action near the Wolves goal area. Wolves had a player sent off for denying Evanilson a goal-scoring opportunity by being fouled just outside the area as he was heading for goal.
With a one-man advantage, the Cherries couldn’t make it count and Wolves looked the more comfortable side at times playing with 10 men.
The game finished with AFCB keeping their unbeaten record of first home games since the 2017-18 season and this time with a win and all 3 points.
Match stats, AFCB 14 shots, 4 on target. Wolves 6 shots, 1 on target.

After the match, AFC Bournemouth head coach Andoni Iraola told Sky Sports…
“I’m very happy. I wouldn’t say it was a must-win for us because it is the first home game of the season.
“But it was important for us to win the first game. We have difficult games (coming up), so it gives us some confidence, also the clean sheet.
“We’ve had a lot of changes (to the squad); I think we need more time together.
“The more time we play together, the better we will be.”

Playing Wolves at home was never going to be a showcase of our beautiful football but today we prevailed and got the three points, that’s the main thing
It was also a good opportunity to give the new players some minutes, which should help with their integration.
Good job lads. Onto the next one.
Iraola's assessment on our first win of the new season 👏

Got over the line. 3 points
Some positives & things to work on. We might not get away with it against 11 men and a more clinical opposition
Putting it into perspective, we lost 4 of the back 5, key players missed pre-season/are injured or not fully fit yet, a lot of new players and 3 in the last 10 days…. It will take time to get everyone up to fitness and used to tactics and each other.
Will have a better sense of where we are in about 6-8 game time…

Can’t even bring myself to be irritated about not putting them more to the sword. Scintillating first half, we looked a level above them. Just kind of gave up pushing hard on getting another goal, went down a few gears.
In love with Diakite, my MoM. Senesi much better, no one really had a bad game except maybe Scott. Brooks was absolutely fantastic first half. Adli also immediately looks half a level above our players on the ball in all honesty, it looks like a great signing.
