Everton are severely lacking in the right-back position.
David Moyes’ preferred option is Jake O’Brien, who is naturally a centre-back, and the Toffees have been targeting a new player in the position.
Everton captain Seamus Coleman has been forced to settle for a bit-part role due to injury taking its toll on the Irishman.
Meanwhile, Nathan Patterson has been unable to force his way into Moyes’ plans.

David Moyes readies another addition as Nathan Patterson plans clear
Patterson looks set to exit Everton after failing to feature in the Toffees’ two Premier League games so far.

Sky Sports has reported on 25 August that Patterson is set to leave Everton on loan, with Sevilla in talks to sign him.
It states that the Blues want to sign a right-back before the transfer deadline as Moyes eyes a new transfer, clearing space for the Scotland international to leave.

Who could Everton sign at right-back?
They had tried to sign Fulham ace Kenny Tete as a free agent, but he ended up signing a new deal with the Cottagers.
The Blues have also been linked with Sevilla star Juanlu Sanchez; however, he is set to join Italian champions Napoli.
Lyon’s Ainsley Maitland-Niles is a potential option, and he knows the top-flight well from his time at Arsenal, West Brom and Southampton, where he made 109 appearances in the division.

Has not had an injury since the 2022/23 season
Hector Fort is an alternative, with the Barcelona youngster potentially set to move away from the Spanish giants on loan, but he lacks top-flight experience.
Adam Aznou could help the 19-year-old settle on Merseyside, as the two played together in the La Masia youth ranks, but it would still be a risk.
One thing is for sure: the Blues need depth on the right side of defence; they are desperate for a new addition before it is too late.
If they fail to secure one, it could be a long season for Moyes and Co., as O’Brien does not bring the full package as a makeshift right-back, despite his impressive showings so far.
