Manchester United fans are waiting to see if the club do more in the transfer market before the deadline.
At the core of Manchester United’s trouble against Fulham was a disappointing midfield performance.
Bruno Fernandes struggled, while Casemiro grew tired and was replaced. Manuel Ugarte was unable to exert any influence either. Kobbie Mainoo was overlooked, again.
There is one week remaining for United to change the situation in the transfer window.
Could a last-ditch approach for Carlos Baleba solve a problem for United, and perhaps one for Brighton too?

Carlos Baleba struggles for Brighton
Shortly before Manchester United were labouring to a 1-1 draw with Fulham, Brighton suffered a 2-0 defeat away to Everton.
Carlos Baleba had a game to forget, hooked after 45 minutes with his side trailing 1-0. Baleba was limited to only 17 touches before being taken off.
The 21-year-old played like a player who has been distracted by the ongoing transfer speculation, with Manchester United expressing interest.

Brighton turned down Manchester United’s approach for the midfielder, with the Red Devils prepared to pay a club record fee.
While he did not play like a £100 million player against Everton, or even half of that, his performance may pose a dilemma for Brighton that Manchester United could end up solving.
Late move could benefit United and Baleba
If Carlos Baleba’s head has been turned, amid regular contact between United and his representatives, Brighton need to hope they can re-focus him.
But a savvy club like Brighton may also recognise the financial opportunity they still have if they decide to cash in on Baleba.
If Baleba plays like he did against Everton on a weekly basis, then his value would rapidly deteriorate by time the next transfer window opens. And perhaps United might not be interested at all.
Manchester United could be smart to re-ignite contact with Brighton before the transfer window closes, to try and resurrect a deal.
Ruben Amorim needs results, and a tough fixture list puts him under pressure. Baleba may need a change too, on the evidence of his latest display.
If there is a chance that Brighton could be swayed into a U-turn on their ‘not for sale’ stance, then it is a gamble United must take.
