Report: Wolves close to agreeing deal to sign "fabulous" £17m forward, talks ongoing

Wolves are closing in on a deal to sign Getafe forward Christantus Uche, journalist Liam Keen has revealed.

The Molineux side are reportedly pushing to land the 22-year-old Nigeria international before the deadline, with talks ongoing over a deal in the region of £17m.

Wolves remain hopeful of reaching agreements on both club and player sides in the coming days, as there is ‘still work to do’ on personal terms for Uche’s arrival in the West Midlands.

Uche could soon become Wolves’ fifth signing of the summer, with right-back Jackson Tchatchoua the latest to join last week from Italian side Hellas Verona.

Vitor Pereira’s side have also welcomed left-back David Moller Wolfe from AZ, as well as wingers Fer Lopez and Jhon Arias.

According to Keen, Wolves are in advanced negotiations to make Uche their fifth signing of the summer, with talks ongoing over personal terms.

Keen’s report was later confirmed by GIVEMESPORT senior correspondent Fabrizio Romano, who revealed Wolves’ bid for Uche is in excess of £17m.

Wolves are aiming to bring in a new striker before the deadline to complement Jorgen Strand Larsen and potentially replace Hee-chan Hwang, who has been heavily linked with a departure in recent weeks.

The South Korea international is being targeted by Crystal Palace, who are looking for a late replacement for the injured Eddie Nketiah and have identified Hwang as a potential option.

Uche, who joined Getafe from Spanish second-tier side AD Ceuta last summer, has shown promise in his debut La Liga season, scoring four goals and providing six assists in 33 appearances.

The ‘fabulous’ forward was rewarded with his first call-up to the Nigeria national team in May and made his debut off the bench in a friendly against Jamaica.
