Liverpool could offer Newcastle United a deal worth £150million to sign Alexander Isak as the transfer deadline edges closer.
Isak has his heart set on joining Liverpool after emerging as their top target ahead of the window closing on 1 September.
Arne Slot’s side have seen a bid worth £110million plus add-ons rejected for the 25-year-old striker, with Newcastle valuing him at around £150million.
Football Insider revealed on 11 August Newcastle have no intention of selling Isak unless they can find a top-class replacement before the window closes.
Isak is currently refusing to play for Eddie Howe’s side and wasn’t named in the squad for their goalless draw against Aston Villa on 16 August, while he also won’t play against Liverpool on Monday (25 August).

Liverpool backed to complete ‘very big’ Alexander Isak transfer

The Sweden international is under contract at St James’ Park until June 2028 after joining for £63million on a six-year deal from Real Sociedad in 2022.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Borson said: “I still think the most likely scenario, and I’m only talking about likelihood, nobody can be certain as to how this is going to pan out, but I still think the most likely scenario is that he goes to Liverpool for the sorts of fee that we talked about before.
“I think that’s £125-135million fixed, and then some add-ons of £15-25million to take the package theoretically to say £150million.
“But it’ll probably be half of the add-ons will require him to win the Ballon d’Or or for Liverpool to win the treble, something that’s very unlikely to occur. But if it does, they’ll kind of be happy to pay it.
“I still think that a very big transfer to Liverpool is the most likely as we sit here now because, ultimately, it’s going to be very, very hard to reintegrate the player next season given what’s come to pass.
“It’s going to take him a month to get fit probably because he’s broadly missed the entire pre-season.
“I do still think that’s the most likely, but it’s far from certain because it’s just going to be very difficult now given all the main targets that Newcastle have missed.
“As I say, I still think it’s most likely he will go to Liverpool, but I’d only put it at slightly over 50 per cent.
“I think they may well just take a view that they’ll deal with the aftermath between now and January and look at it again in January.”

Liverpool to make new Marc Guehi move
In terms of another potential incoming at Anfield, Football Insider revealed on 22 August Liverpool are hopeful of signing Marc Guehi later in the window if Crystal Palace decide to accept cut-price offers.
Oliver Glasner’s side were originally believed to be asking for around £40million, but that price tag has now dropped by £5million.
However, Liverpool still see the asking price as higher than they’re willing to pay for the England international, who is out of contract at Selhurst Park in June 2026.
