Report: West Ham join Everton's pursuit of £35m Champions League star

Everton have faced Premier League competition all summer in pursuit of numerous transfer targets.

The final week of the window is now upon us and things have not changed as David Moyes is pushing for more signings to be made.

Three points were added to the board on Sunday in Everton’s opening game at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Plenty of positives can be taken into the last week of the market, with Everton eyeing three more signings.

It is believed Everton are close to signing Tyler Dibling, who is set to undergo his medical on Merseyside on Monday.

Now, it is time for Everton to focus on some defensive additions, but they are facing real competition from West Ham and Newcastle United.

Everton face Nathan Ake competition from West Ham and Newcastle United

It has been reported that Everton are keen to sign Nathan Ake from Manchester City this week.

A difficult deal to pull off by any means, but it may have been made even more difficult, with other Premier League clubs joining the pursuit.

According to Caught Offside, West Ham and Newcastle United are also keen to land the Dutch defender this summer.

The report claims City are actually ready to sanction a sale before the end of the window.

Despite not receiving regular minutes, it has been suggested that City would be open to listening to offers in the region of £35m.

There may be one slight issue for the interested clubs, though. At the weekend, Rayan Ait-Nouri was withdrawn through injury.

Ake may now see his minutes increase if the injury is serious, which could well end any possibility of a summer exit for the defender.

Everton plotting defensive signings this week

Movement is expected this week at Everton in the defensive department.

It has already been suggested on Monday morning that Everton have agreed to offload Nathan Patterson to Sevilla on a season-long loan deal.

However, a replacement is being sought first before the Scotland international is allowed to depart.

With Dibling expected to be sealed in the coming hours, Wayne Rooney has urged Everton to bolster their defence.

Adding a player of Ake’s ability, experience, and versatility would be a real coup for Everton, but Newcastle’s offer of Champions League football could be a real issue.
