Leeds United could be set for a financial boost heading into the final days of the transfer window owing to their former defender Charlie Cresswell.
The 23-year-old started his career at Elland Road - progressing through the club's youth system. He then made 14 first-team appearances for the club before completing a permanent move to French side Toulouse in the summer of 2024, having spent the previous season on loan with Millwall.
Cresswell has attracted attention with his performances - both in Ligue 1 and with England U21s this summer - as they retained their European Championship U21s title.
As per The Athletic, Borussia Dortmund are showing an interest in the defender - and have made an approach to Tolouse. It's said that the offer is short of the French club's valuation, but the pursuit is ongoing.
As part of the agreement which saw Cresswell switch to Toulouse from Leeds last year, the Whites included a 15 per cent sell on clause on any profit made by the French club. Although the fee was undisclosed, it's thought that Leeds got in the region of £3.8million for the centre-back.
Speaking earlier this summer, Leeds' hopes of getting more money from the deal through the sell-on clause was boosted with Toulouse sporting director Viktor Bezhani refusing to rule out a sale.
"We are delighted with the many players' interests," he told L'Equipe. "It shows that we are doing things well and that the rest of Europe is watching us. It's no secret, if the right offer comes in, we'll take a look at it.
"At the same time, we must also not forget that the season is going to be very tough as we must show ourselves very strong. The main priority is to strengthen the squad as much as possible."
Any extra cash brought into the club would be a welcome boost to Daniel Farke, with the Leeds manager aiming to continue strengthening his squad before the September 1 deadline, with a No.10 one of the areas being chased.
Leeds have completed the signings of nine new players so far this summer as they attempt to retain their Premier League status at the end of the 2025/2025 season.
