Report: "Special" £70m star open to making shock Man Utd exit in final days of window

Kobbie Mainoo would consider leaving Manchester United before the transfer deadline if the club receive a suitable offer, according to talkSPORT.

The 20-year-old England international has been an unused substitute for both of United’s first two Premier League games of the season and reportedly has not ruled out a ‘shock’ departure in the final week of the summer window.

Mainoo is yet to play a single minute of football for the Red Devils this term, with head coach Ruben Amorim warning the United academy graduate that he faces serious competition for a place in the first XI.

Following United’s 1-1 draw at Fulham, Amorim said Mainoo is fighting for minutes with captain Bruno Fernandes, who has been irreplaceable for the Portuguese tactician since he took charge in November.

According to talkSPORT, Mainoo has recently failed to agree to a new contract with United, with his current terms expiring in the summer of 2027.

The £70m-rated midfielder was the subject of interest from Chelsea earlier this year, with the Blues also looking at signing Red Devils outcast Alejandro Garnacho before the deadline.

Mainoo, who was praised as ‘special’ by Paul Scholes, was a firm favourite under previous United boss Erik ten Hag, who gave the England international his professional debut in January 2023.

The Stockport-born talent has made 72 appearances for United to date, scoring seven goals, including the Red Devils’ second in their 2-1 FA Cup final win over Manchester City in May 2024.

Man United are anticipating several first-team exits before the deadline, with developments also ongoing regarding Antony’s future.

The Brazilian winger remains a target for La Liga side Real Betis, where he spent the second half of last season on loan, with talks ongoing over a potential late deal.

According to senior GIVEMESPORT correspondent Fabrizio Romano, Betis are ‘trying their best’ to sign Antony before the deadline and are pushing to get the green light over the structure of the deal.

United are also open to offers for Garnacho, Jadon Sancho, Tyrell Malacia and Rasmus Hojlund, with the latter now in talks to join Serie A winners Napoli.
