Unai Emery wants to bring Nicolas Jackson to Aston Villa before the summer transfer window closes

Aston Villa are trying to find an agreement with Chelsea to sign Nicolas Jackson in the final week of the transfer window.
The Blues have been wanting to sell Jackson permanently all summer but without any viable interest, so a loan move could be on the cards.
Villa, however, are currently unable to pay what Chelsea want in a loan fee, although they will continue to work to reduce the cost.
Chelsea would also push for an obligation to buy the forward next summer, although it is unclear what price they’d set for Jackson, who joined them two summers ago for around £30 million.
Unai Emery, who handed Jackson his breakthrough at Villarreal, wanted to recruit him just months after replacing Steven Gerrard as Villa boss in January 2023.
A move never materialised, so Jackson joined Chelsea instead in the summer window later that year before scoring 14 goals in his first Premier League campaign.
Last term, the Senegal international bagged 10 times, and has been made available for a transfer following Chelsea’s captures of Liam Delap and Joao Pedro.
A host of clubs have registered an interest in Jackson, including Bayern Munich and Newcastle United, among others.
However, German giants Bayern appear to have moved on from their interest in the 24-year-old as their director of sport, Max Eberl, has commented on the situation. BILD reported him as saying: “Nicolas Jackson is no topic for us.”
Although that comes as a boost for Villa, with one less competitor to fight off in their pursuit, they will still need to haggle on a price with Chelsea, who will not want Jackson to remain in the squad and not play this season.
