Liverpool FC are on Tyneside to face Newcastle United this Monday night, having arrived on Sunday afternoon.

The evening’s narrative will be dominated by Alexander Isak’s absence from Newcastle’s squad.

The Swedish striker remains in exile, training separately from his teammates as he pushes for a £150 million move to Liverpool.

Arne Slot faces somewhat of a selection headache with Jeremie Frimpong ruled out until after the international break with a hamstring injury.

The Dutch defender’s absence, combined with Conor Bradley only just returning to training and Joe Gomez managing fitness concerns, means the right-back position will need some improvisation.

Slot has indicated that Dominik Szoboszlai or Wataru Endo could deputize at right-back.

This reshuffle could see Ryan Gravenberch return from suspension to help hold down the midfield alongside Curtis Jones.

That’s because it appears the Reds may be without another key man.

It has emerged that Alexis Max Allister has not been spotted with the Liverpool squad checking in at the INNSiDE hotel.

Some reports have suggested that it is linked with his partner ‘s childbirth, but that is currently unconfirmed.

Slot provided an explanation for Ryan Gravenberch when the midfielder missed the Community Shield to welcome his daughter.

Meanwhile for Newcastle, they will likely again deploy Anthony Gordon as a makeshift striker, supported by Anthony Elanga and Harvey Barnes in attack.

Jacob Ramsey could make his Newcastle debut after his £39 million move from Aston Villa, with Howe confirming the midfielder “will be available” and has been “really impressive” in training

Alexis Mac Allister wasn’t pictured with the squad yesterday, with rumours circulating today that he won’t feature as his wife is about to give birth.

No confirmation yet, so let’s see.
