Paul Joyce: How much Everton will actually pay Southampton for Tyler Dibling - it's not £42m

Everton are now set to wrap up their deal to sign Southampton talent Tyler Dibling.

In what has turned out to be an extremely long transfer saga, David Moyes finally looks set to get the new right winger he has been demanding.

After weeks of negotiations, Southampton finally dropped their Dibling valuation, which has allowed Everton to strike a deal for the youngster.

Monday will see Dibling undergo his medical at Finch Farm, following Everton’s first win of the season against Brighton & Hove Albion on Sunday.

Positive times are definitely ahead for the Blues under the ownership of The Friedkin Group, who have put their hands in their pockets this summer.

However, Paul Joyce has now shared just how much Everton will pay for Dibling, and they may have landed themselves a real bargain.

Everton agree reduced fee to sign Tyler Dibling

This deal will mark a real coup for Everton after beating Tottenham Hotspur to Dibling, along with the likes of Crystal Palace.

With a medical set to take place on Monday, the Blues have now been left with one week to wrap up any final potential arrivals.

According to Joyce, Everton have agreed an initial £35m fee for Dibling, with the possibility of a further £5m in add-ons.

It was initially suggested that Everton had agreed a £42m deal for Dibling.

However, Everton’s willingness to hold their nerve in the race to sign Dibling has certainly worked to their advantage.

It is worth noting that the reduced fee has come at a cost, with Southampton holding a 20 per cent sell-on fee for Dibling.

Dibling was keen to sign for Everton despite having interest arrive from the likes of Spurs, and that should serve as another huge positive for the Toffees.

Everton could have landed Dibling bargain

It would be understandable if there are some fans cautious over spending £35m on a 19-year-old prospect.

However, Dibling is a player with huge potential to really become something special.

Paul Scholes was wowed by Dibling when he watched the youngster in action last season against Manchester United.

He is not the only former player to hail the winger, with Theo Walcott comparing Dibling to Gareth Bale, having also developed at Southampton.

“It’s very much like the Gareth Bale sort of physique, and the way he has got a bit of swag about him on the field like a Jack Grealish type,” said Walcott.
