Former Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay is reportedly attempting to convince Rasmus Hojlund to join him at Napoli before the transfer window closes.

The Italian champions have expressed an interest in the striker after it became clear he was not in Ruben Amorim's preferred plans. Benjamin Sesko's arrival from RB Leipzig has dropped him down the pecking order with him missing the first two games of the season.

It's believed that United are willing to accept a fee in the region of £30million for Hojlund with AC Milan and Napoli credited with interest. Reports have claimed that talks have been held between United and Napoli after news of Romelu Lukaku's injury.

A loan move has been touted, although it seems that Hojlund would want to remain in Naples beyond this season if a move were to be completed. Like England, the transfer window in Italy closes on September 1 meaning time is running out for a deal to be finalised.

According to Corriere Dello Sport, McTominay is looking to use his relationship with Hojlund to get him to join him in Italy. The report claims that United would be open to a €5million (£4.3m) loan deal with an obligation to buy for an additional €40m (£34.6m).

McTominay is the latest player to leave Manchester and enjoy success. The Scotland international moved to Naples last summer and played a crucial role in their Scudetto win under Antonio Conte.

The midfielder scored 12 goals in 34 games and over the weekend, he opened his account for the new season. The report in Italy suggests that he has phoned Hojlund in an attempt to get a deal over the line.
