Robbie Savage says £37m Man Utd player still really doesn’t work in Ruben Amorim’s system

Ruben Amorim’s terrible record at Manchester United has continued after a draw with Fulham at the weekend.

The Manchester United boss can’t buy a win at the moment, and after picking up one point in the Red Devils’ first two games this season, Manchester United sit 16th in the table.

Once again, questions are being asked of Amorim, and, one man who has constantly raised concerns about Amorim is Robbie Savage.

Savage has queried many of Amorim’s decisions in the past, and now, speaking on 606, the pundit has claimed that one Manchester United player really doesn’t suit this 3-4-3 system.

Amad Diallo doesn’t suit Ruben Amorim’s 3-4-3

Savage spoke about how Manchester United are performing under their manager.

The pundit noted how United looked better against Arsenal recently, but he does think this 3-4-3 system isn’t suiting Amad Diallo.

Diallo has earned praise in recent times, but Savage isn’t convinced that this system suits the £37m man.

“Well, they were better against Arsenal, they were better. Because the pace at the top end of the pitch, that’s what I think. Do I think the 3-4-3 suits Amad?” Savage said.

“No, I don’t think it suits him.

“Amad, I don’t think it does. Being the wide of a four, I want him higher up the pitch.”

Savage says that Amorim’s system doesn’t suit Amad Diallo, but the stats tell a very different story.

Indeed, while, at times, Diallo does look like he wants to push up more, he’s still making things happen from that wide right area, as the numbers show.

Games 29

Goals 8

Assists 8

16 goal contributions in 29 games is a very good return for any player, and while things aren’t quite perfect at the moment at Manchester United, Amad Diallo has been a bright spot in this period.

Amorim’s system does have its clear flaws, there’s no question about that, but, there are bigger issues at hand here than Diallo’s role in this side.
