Brentford visit Dean Court with a new manager. Keith Andrews, an Irishman born in Dublin, the capital of the Republic of Ireland and former set piece coach at Brentford, has taken the place of Thomas Frank. Frank, who after nearly seven years at Brentford was appointed the new manager at Spurs after the departure of Ange Postecoglou.

Last season in the League Cup, the Cherries exited after being beaten 1-0 at the London Stadium by West Ham in AFCB’s first game in the competition that season. Brentford, after beating Colchester away, Leyton Orient and Sheffield Wednesday at home, were beaten in the Quarter-final away at Newcastle.

The last time our two sides met in the League Cup was in 2002 in the 1st round at Dean Court. The game finished 3-3 after normal time. There were no more goals in extra time. AFCB had led 3-1 at half-time, with two goals from Danny Thomas and the other from Alan Connell. Kevin O’Connor scored from the spot for Brentford. O’Connor put another penalty away in the second half and Roman Vine added the third for Brentford. Brentford won 2-4 on penalties.

In all competitions against Brentford, AFCB have won 39, drawn 34, and lost 45.

AFCB Team News

Enas Unal and Lewis Cook are the only injury concerns we know about.

AFCB Player To Watch

Ryan Christie and Justin Kluivert, who came on as subs against Wolves, will probably start against Brentford. Amine Adli and Ben Gannon-Doak should also feature.

Brentford Team News

They have a few players out through injury, plus Yoane Wissa, who has been absent from their team due to transfer speculation.

Brentford Player To Watch

It has to be our old player Dango Ouattara. Scored the only goal on his debut in the Premier League for his new club.

The Referee

Michael Salisbury is taking this game. He was our referee twice in the Premier League last season, away against Ipswich Town and at home against Wolves, in which he first yellow-carded Illia Zabarnyi and, after VAR intervention, issued a red card.

A pretty winnable game, especially at home.

Would like to see us play our second string side mainly, wouldn’t mind seeing some full debutants in Doak, Adli, Kroupi, Paulson etc. Would probably be a good idea for Diakite and Senesi to start, as they understand and gel with each other better.

Appreciate others may disagree, but I would like to rest our best players at least for Spurs away this weekend. – To join the conversation, click here.
