Player wants to join Napoli instead of West Ham – Fee argument could help Hammers

Earlier this month, Tuttomercatoweb reported West Ham are one of the clubs interested in RB Leipzig’s Eljif Elmas.

The midfielder spent the second half of last season on loan at Torino, where he made a mark, and his future is now up in the air.

The Hammers were said to have made an enquiry and details are now emerging about Elmas’ stance. Il Mattino report that the 25-year-old has informed Leipzig that he’s deciced to leave. West Ham have come forward for the North Macedonian but he’s rejected the approach from Graham Potter’s side.

This is because he’s keen on returning to Napoli, where manager Antonio Conte is interested.

Apart from West Ham, another Premier League club and a La Liga have also met disappointment in a move for the versatile midfielder.

Leipzig want around €16m to sell Elmas but so far, Napoli haven’t met that asking price. It remains to be seen if this gives an advantage to other suitors but the player’s stance is quite clear and he doesn’t want to join any other club apart from the Partenopei.
