‘Very frustrating’… Wayne Rooney singles out four Man Utd stars who were impacted by ‘one thing’ after Fulham result

Wayne Rooney has admitted that he has a “big concern” for Manchester United after Ruben Amorim’s men played out a 1-1 draw against Fulham at Craven Cottage on Sunday.

Fulham snatched a point against Manchester United on the weekend, with the Red Devils failing to hold on to their second-half lead in their Premier League tie.

United broke the deadlock against Fulham at Craven Cottage after Rodrigo Muniz put the ball in the back of his own net after a major deflection from Leny Yoro’s header.

However, Ruben Amorim and his men were unable to add a second after the opener against Fulham and Marco Silva’s side rallied back in the Premier League clash.

Fulham found the all-important equaliser in the 73rd minute after Emile Smith Rowe came off the bench and beat a helpless Altay Bayindir from close range.

Ruben Amorim saw his side produce a strong showing in the first half at Craven Cottage, but United’s influence waned as the match progressed on Sunday.

Fulham climbed back into the contest and United failed to capitalise on their chances, including Bruno Fernandes missing from the spot-kick in the first half.

Wayne Rooney singled out Mason Mount, Bryan Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha and Amad Diallo as examples of players continuing to shift into different positions.

“I think, just from me on that, I think the one thing, you know, players are getting moved around the pitch and into different positions,” he said on BBC Sport’s The Wayne Rooney Show.

“You see Mason Mount playing two or three positions, Cunha, Mbeumo, Amad.

“You know, the players are moving into different positions and then from that you can’t get a settled, you know, run in the team of doing the same thing and one thing.”

Wayne Rooney sends an important warning to Ruben Amorim about shuffling around his Man Utd players

Rooney recalled his own experiences from his legendary playing career of shifting to different positions on the pitch rather than sticking with one individual role.

The 39-year-old United legend highlighted that Amorim’s tactical system for United is putting more pressure on the three-man backline due to his constant role rotations.

Rooney added: “So, I know from a player who [has] done that myself that can be very frustrating and then all of a sudden you become fed up of it and that shows through [the] body language as well and I just hope that doesn’t start to happen with these new players because I think there’s a lot of ability in there and already early on you know the worry is we’ve got three centre-backs, but it’s too easy for forwards, midfield players to get on to the centre-backs.

“So, if anything, you should see at the start of a new season United saying, ‘Right, last season’s gone. Let’s, you know, make sure we have a good start, let’s stick together,’ and already they’re starting to see those gaps, so that’s a big concern for me.”

United are currently 16th in the Premier League table after the 1-0 defeat to Arsenal at Old Trafford and the 1-1 draw against Fulham at Craven Cottage.
