Crystal Palace are eyeing a surprise move to sign former Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher before the transfer deadline, GIVEMESPORT senior correspondent Fabrizio Romano has revealed.
The Selhurst Park chiefs are seeking late reinforcements following Eberechi Eze’s move to Arsenal and have reportedly identified the Atletico Madrid star as a potential target.
Palace are believed to be considering a loan move for Gallagher with just over a week left in the market, with initial talks taking place between clubs over an 'ambitious' deal.
Gallagher spent the 2021/22 season on loan at Selhurst Park from Chelsea, making 39 appearances, scoring eight goals and providing five assists under then-manager Patrick Vieira.
The 25-year-old, who left Stamford Bridge for Atletico last summer, is under contract until June 2029 and reportedly earns £200,000 a week.

According to Romano, Palace are weighing up a potential loan move for Gallagher, with initial talks taking place with Atletico over a late move:
Gallagher is said to be open to a return to Palace as he looks to leave Atletico in search of regular playing time, having featured for only 67 minutes across the first two games of the season.
His competition for places in Diego Simeone’s squad increased with the summer arrival of Johnny Cardoso, who started in midfield ahead of him in Atletico’s opening La Liga fixtures.
Gallagher made 50 appearances for Atletico in his debut season, scoring four goals and providing six assists, and helped Los Colchoneros secure a third-place finish in La Liga.
Palace are anticipating a busy end to the summer window as they continue their search for a replacement for Eze, who signed a four-year contract with Arsenal last week.
According to GIVEMESPORT senior correspondent Ben Jacobs, the Eagles are also considering Chelsea winger Raheem Sterling as a potential loan option, with the 30-year-old expected to leave Stamford Bridge before the deadline.
