Player has agreement over Brighton exit – Club finalising sale before move

Last week, Corriere dello Sport reported Brighton’s Tariq Lamptey was being eyed up by Fiorentina and the defender was seen as a back-up to first choice right-back Dodo.

The newspaper claimed there was contact between the two clubs regarding a transfer, with the Ghana international’s pace seen as a real asset by the Italian side.

Today’s Corriere dello Sport has more on the Brighton player and how his exit can now be materialising.

They report, as relayed by ViolaNews, that the 24-year-old has already agreed terms over a move to the Italian side. Lamptey’s arrival at the Artemio Franchi is now expected to hinge on the exit of Nicolo Fortini.

The youngster is of interest to Torino and Empoli and his move away will free up space for the ex-Chelsea talent.

The report doesn’t indicate whether Fiorentina have held talks with Brighton or not but notes that Lamptey’s current contract at the Amex runs out in the summer of 2026.

This can make it easier for La Viola to sign the full-back, whose prominence has reduced under Fabian Hurzeler since last season, with injuries also having heavily impacted his development.
