'He wants': Where Ange Postecoglou sees his immediate future as Nottingham Forest rumours…

Ange Postecoglou is still looking for his next club after the Celtic icon was sacked by Tottenham Hotspur this summer.

Postecoglou’s Premier League return has been rumoured this week with Nottingham Forest being touted as a possible destination.

The success Postecoglou had at Celtic tempted Spurs to take a chance on him but, in reality, that job was destined to fail from the beginning looking at the number of top-class managers the London club have ditched previously.

However, it seems the Australian is being tipped for a stunning return to the Premier League but is that where the former Celtic boss really sees himself?

talkSPORT drop Ange Postecoglou update as Celtic icon’s ‘camp distance themselves’ from Forest rumours

talkSPORT journalist Alex Crook was speaking about the Nottingham Forest rumours when he shared what people close to Postecoglou are saying where the former Celtic manager wants to manage next.

Crook told talkSPORT, “Let’s go back to where we were on Friday morning. We were preparing for our show, this show, on Friday morning.

“We got news from a journalist in Italy that we understand has connections within Nottingham Forest, and the Forest hierarchy, that maybe Evangelos Marinakis is contemplating a change of manager.

“The name Ange Postecoglou was raised. We checked it out. His camp distanced themselves, and I think he’s going to be cautious about what job he takes next.

“He wants to return to the Premier League, but it needs to be for the right opportunity. Nuno has got wind of that before his press conference. I understand that maybe he was advised to play it down. Business as usual. Nothing to see here.

“He’s clearly done the opposite, because I think his back has been put out that there’s a possibility that his owner is looking for a new manager when he’s just delivered European football for the first time since the 1990s.”

The success Ange Postecoglou had at Celtic

Postecoglou will always be remembered fondly by Celtic supporters not just because he wrestled the title from Rangers, but for the style of football he implemented at Parkhead.

His gung-ho philosophy proved popular with the Hoops support and it also helped add to Celtic’s vast trophy haul.

2 x Scottish Premiership titles

1 x domestic treble

Ange left Celtic a legend and many fans will wish him well in whichever role he decides to take up this season.
